Partnership to Advance STEM Programs and Youth Mentorship Launched by Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and Offshore Wind Developer Attentive Energy

Farmingdale, NJ – May 11, 2023 – Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore announces a collaborative partnership with Attentive Energy, demonstrating a commitment to building a strong and inclusive female leadership pipeline, empowering girls to be environmental stewards, and continuing to inspire, through action, New Jersey’s leaders of tomorrow.

Attentive Energy, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC, is delivering offshore wind opportunities to empower communities today and tomorrow. Attentive Energy is developing an 84,332-acre area located approximately 42 miles from its nearest point to New Jersey. When completed, the project has the potential to generate 3,000 MW of clean energy to power nearly 2.2 million homes.

As a partner, Attentive Energy will offer educational programming, mentorship, and volunteer support to accelerate the girl scout leadership experience offered by Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. This generous contribution will help expand access to our programming through innovation and diversity, including:

  • Sponsorship of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Innovation Station, a mobile STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lab, hosted in a cargo van, that provides transformative mobile programming designed to increase the representation of economically disadvantaged girls in STEAM education and to disrupt the cycle of generational poverty for girls and their families through STEAM careers.
  • Sponsorship and volunteer support for a no-cost Middle School Girl Scout Troop in a disadvantaged community, providing life-changing enrichment programming to girls that they cannot get anywhere else. The partnership will also support these girls with a Girl Scout uniform and the opportunity to earn badges, giving these girls a foundation to
    grow into strong, confident women who make the world a better place.
  • Mentorship and support of events including Young Women’s Leadership Summit, Gold Awards and other mentoring opportunities.

This donation and partnership will accelerate our ability to provide girls with the tools and mentorship to make a difference in their communities and to make the world a better place.
