Creating new opportunities for our supply chain

The opportunity to build a local supply chain starts with you – a diverse network of entrepreneurs and suppliers who want to make an impact in your community.

Offshore wind brings together heavy industrial power generation equipment, electrical transmission, and marine operations to create a sustainable energy source for homes and businesses. Within the interconnected elements of an offshore wind project, New Jersey businesses will have ample opportunity to supply goods, materials, and services to a variety of new and known buyers.

Entering the Offshore Wind Supply Chain

While the AE2 wind turbines will be located 42 miles offshore, the supply chain will flow inland through the entire Garden State where products can be engineered and manufactured, materials can be supplied, and services can be offered. As a potential vendor in the offshore wind supply chain, it is important to familiarize yourself with the major equipment that will be manufactured and installed, how your products/services fit within the supply chain of that piece of equipment, and the qualification requirements of potential buyers to ensure your company is prepared for the upcoming opportunities within your niche.

Attentive Energy has developed a roadmap to help New Jersey businesses determine their readiness for contracting with a globalized sector. Attentive Energy created the below figure so businesses can follow a recommended checklist to strategically position themselves to be competitive in the offshore wind market.

The Attentive Energy Two Development Timeline

An offshore wind project is progressed over three distinct phases: 1) Planning & Development, 2) Construction & Installation, and 3) Operations & Maintenance. The AE2 project is currently in the Planning & Development phase and is in the process of obtaining federal permits, completing the project design, and conducting environmental and geological studies of the proposed wind turbine placement and cable routes. The project is expected to be producing electricity in 2031.
